About The Position

This is a part-time, benefits-eligible position for a Medical Assistant II in Women's Health (OBGYN). The role involves direct patient care and clinical support within a patient-centered, supportive team environment. The clinic is busy and high-intensity, with 6 Medical Assistants on the team. The position is located at IU Fishers OBGYN and USA Parkway OBGYN McCordsville. The schedule is day shift, 24 hours per week, with hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, though the provider's schedule may offer some flexibility. No weekends or holidays are required.

Requirements

  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required
  • Current certification in medical assisting required from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
  • Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
  • Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills

Nice To Haves

  • TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Prep work and rooming patients
  • Daily and weekly clinic tasks
  • Patient phone calls as needed
  • Reschedule provider schedules for last-minute changes
  • Complete paperwork and documentation
  • Perform duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction
  • Assure completeness of ordered procedures and treatments
  • Assure smooth patient flow
  • Perform general lab work
  • Instruct patients concerning procedures, treatments and needs
  • Ensure medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner
  • Perform registration and scheduling activities per organizational and departmental procedures
  • Maintain EMR files and perform general front office functions as needed
  • May perform computerized physician order entry, only if directed by assigned physician
  • Precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership
