About The Position

ChristianaCare's Hope Center is seeking a professional, compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant I with strong communication, integrity, and solid technical and clinical skills. The Hope Center is a specialized medical respite program and emergency shelter established in 2021, providing 36 beds for vulnerable individuals, including those experiencing homelessness. The program offers on-site medical care, behavioral health services, and comprehensive case management to support guests in stabilizing their health and transitioning toward long-term housing solutions. As a Medical Assistant I, you will support physicians in virtual and on-site patient care, performing essential clinical and clerical duties to ensure quality care.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Responsibilities

  • Greets and supports patients virtually and in person.
  • Prepares patients for visits.
  • Performs basic clinical tasks (e.g., testing, injections, EKGs).
  • Assists with exams.
  • Maintains exam rooms and equipment.
  • Manages EMR updates, patient communications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling.
  • Handles clerical duties.
  • Troubleshoots video visits.
  • Supports patient portal access.
