This position is responsible for adhering to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, following all policies and procedures, and maintaining training and competency based on the area of specialty when providing patient care. The Medical Assistant performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. They assist providers with procedures, perform lab-related duties including venipuncture and specimen collection, and administer medications and vaccines safely. Additional duties may include medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals. The role requires cross-training for duties relevant to the specialty or clinic practice, demonstrating effective communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation. Maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned and stocked, and demonstrating knowledge of age-appropriate patient care are also key responsibilities.
