The Medical Assistant I is responsible for adhering to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, following all policies and procedures, and maintaining training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care. This role involves performing rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. The Medical Assistant will also assist providers with procedures, perform lab-related duties including venipuncture and specimen collection, administer medications and vaccines safely, and handle various administrative tasks such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, and patient messaging. Cross-training for duties relevant to the clinic practice is expected. The position requires effective communication, teamwork, and maintaining a clean work environment with stocked supplies and functional equipment. The Medical Assistant must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development.
