About The Position

ChristianaCare is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant I for its Colorectal Surgery department at the Map I location in Newark, Delaware. The Colorectal Surgery Program provides specialized, patient-centered care for conditions affecting the small intestine, colon, rectum, and anus, including benign disease and complex colorectal cancers. The team uses advanced surgical techniques and coordinated, multidisciplinary treatment planning to develop personalized care plans. The Medical Assistant I greets and supports patients virtually and in person, prepares them for visits, performs basic clinical tasks, assists with examinations, and maintains exam rooms and equipment. The position also supports electronic medical record updates, patient communications, referrals, authorizations, scheduling, clerical work, video-visit troubleshooting, and patient portal access. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The hourly pay range is $19.48 to $28.24; the offered rate depends on individual factors including skills, relevant experience, and qualifications.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED.
Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program, or current Medical Assistant certification from a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Responsibilities

Greet and support patients virtually and in person.
Prepare patients for visits.
Perform basic clinical tasks, including testing, injections, and EKGs.
Assist with examinations.
Maintain exam rooms and equipment.
Update electronic medical records.
Handle patient communications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling.
Perform clerical duties.
Troubleshoot video visits.
Support patient portal access.
