About The Position

ChristianaCare's Mobile Primary Care Van Program in Wilmington is seeking a professional, compassionate, dependable, detail-oriented Medical Assistant I with strong communication, integrity, and solid technical and clinical skills. The Mobile Van Program provides comprehensive primary care and substance use disorder (SUD) services within underserved communities throughout Wilmington, Delaware. This program is structured to overcome barriers such as transportation limitations, insurance coverage, and geographic inaccessibility by delivering care directly to individuals where they reside and gather. The scope of services encompasses preventive care, chronic disease management, health screenings, immunizations, POCT, SUD treatment and community engagement. As a Medical Assistant I, you support physicians in virtual and on-site patient care, performing essential clinical and clerical duties to ensure quality care. Flexibility to travel to communities throughout Wilmington, preferred.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required
  • Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

Responsibilities

  • Greets and supports patients virtually and in person
  • Prepares patients for visits
  • Performs basic clinical tasks (e.g., testing, injections, EKGs)
  • Assists with exams
  • Maintains exam rooms and equipment
  • Manages EMR updates
  • Manages patient communications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling
  • Handles clerical duties
  • Troubleshoots video visits
  • Supports patient portal access
