About The Position

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our growing outpatient General Gynecology team in Lexington. As our practice expands with new providers and increased patient volume, you will play a key role in supporting high-quality patient care and ensuring an efficient, positive patient experience. Working closely with providers and clinical staff, the Medical Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of a busy gynecology practice. In this role, you will room patients, obtain vital signs and medical histories, prepare patients for examinations and in-office procedures, assist providers during visits, support clinical documentation and patient communication, and help ensure efficient clinic flow. As additional providers join the practice, this position will be instrumental in supporting patient access, care coordination, and an exceptional patient experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 6 months of hire or per department requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred
  • 0-1 years of related experience in patient care in a healthcare setting preferred or associate's degree or higher in lieu of Medical Assistant experience
  • Medical Assistant (Certified), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) certificate preferred
  • Ability to work in fast-paced ambulatory environment with diverse patient populations.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, and a team-based mindset.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, vital sign collection, and EMR systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greet, room, and prepare patients for visits; take and document vital signs and intake information
  • Support clinical procedures (e.g., EKGs, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, etc.)
  • Maintain clean, stocked, and ready exam rooms throughout the day
  • Ensure accurate documentation in the EMR per clinical guidelines
  • May assist with scheduling, check-in, phone coverage, referrals, and patient instructions as needed
  • Communicates effectively with providers, patients and team members about delays, appointment needs, or follow-ups
  • Follow all assigned workflows, safety protocols, infection control standards and clinical policies and department guidelines.
  • Support operational flow and provider efficiency by anticipating needs and adjusting to same-day changes
  • Escort patients to labs or ancillary services, as needed
  • May participate in specialized clinical workflows (e.g., prescription refills, prior authorizations, high-level disinfection)
