About The Position
ChristianaCare General Surgery at Elkton is seeking a professional, dependable, detail-oriented Medical Assistant I with strong communication, integrity, and solid technical and clinical skills. ChristianaCare General Surgery at Elkton is in Elkton, Maryland. Our General Surgery team has the experience and expertise to give our patients that confidence, that they will have a successful surgery and get back to their lives as quickly as possible. Our board-certified surgeons are here to partner with the community for their surgical needs. General surgeons treat a broad range of illnesses and injuries affecting the abdomen, breast, skin and soft tissue, endocrine system, and digestive tract. As a Medical Assistant I, you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within medical practice.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Responsibilities
- Greet and support patients virtually and in person
- Prepare patients for visits
- Perform basic clinical tasks (e.g., testing, injections, EKGs)
- Assist with exams
- Maintain exam rooms and equipment
- Manage EMR updates, patient communications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling
- Handle clerical duties
- Troubleshoot video visits
- Support patient portal access
