About The Position

Clinica Sierra Vista is seeking a Medical Assistant I-Float to perform routine patient care, technical, and supportive functions in a medical clinic setting. The Medical Assistant I will function within the scope of practice as described by the State of California Board. This role requires a working knowledge of all front office, back office, intake, and medical record processes. The position involves supporting reception and Medical Assistant duties, training on Clinica Sierra Vista's culture, mission, and systems, and troubleshooting patient issues. The Medical Assistant I will also monitor patient schedules, manage the check-in/check-out process including collections, and ensure compliance with various quality improvement guidelines and requirements. A strong focus on customer service and ensuring an excellent patient experience is essential. The role also involves maintaining medical records according to policies and guidelines, working closely with nursing staff, managing supply orders, and handling a high volume of patients and customers with frequent changes and unexpected events.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program Required.
  • Possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Card required, issued through the American Heart Association.
  • Possess and maintain a California Driver’s license and valid auto insurance.

  • Associate's degree in business related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine patient care, technical, and supportive functions in a medical clinic setting.
  • Function within the scope of practice as described by the State of California Board.
  • Maintain proficiency in the role of Receptionist and Medical Assistant duties and responsibilities.
  • Undergo regular training on Clinica Sierra Vista’s (CSV) culture and mission, practice management system, customer service expectations, payer sources, programs, and quality initiatives.
  • Follow standard work procedures, troubleshoot problems, and resolve patient issues at the health center.
  • Monitor the management of patient’s schedules to maximize access and minimize errors and delays.
  • Monitor all functions of the patient check in/out process, including collections and deposits.
  • Ensure health center and team are meeting TJC, HRSA, PCMH, HEDIS, UDS, VFC, CHDP, and all quality improvement guidelines and requirements.
  • Provide excellent patient experience and customer service, ensuring quality outcomes.
  • Cover reception and assist patients with financial questions.
  • Ensure the integrity and standardization of medical records, retaining, protecting, retrieving, transferring, and disposing of them according to policies, local, stated, and/or federal guidelines.
  • Work closely with Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), if applicable.
  • Maintain an efficient system for ordering forms, office, and medical supplies as designated.
  • Work with a high volume of patients, and internal/external customers, and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
