About The Position

The MA I will perform routine patient care, technical and supportive functions in a medical clinic setting. The Medical Assistant I -Float will function within the scope of practice as described by the State of California Board. This role involves supporting reception and medical assistant duties, understanding the organization's culture and mission, and utilizing the practice management system. The position requires troubleshooting patient issues, managing patient schedules for optimal access, and overseeing the patient check-in/check-out process, including collections and deposits. The Medical Assistant I - Float is responsible for ensuring compliance with various quality improvement guidelines and requirements, maintaining excellent patient experience, and assisting patients with financial questions. Additionally, the role involves ensuring the integrity and standardization of medical records, working collaboratively with nursing staff, and managing the ordering of supplies. The position may involve other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program Required.
  • Possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Card required.
  • Possess and maintain a California Driver’s license.
  • Must adhere to Clinica Sierra Vista’s employee health/immunization requirements or provide a valid exemption request for subsequent approval.

Nice To Haves

  • Venipuncture experience preferred at time of hire, competency must be obtained within one (1) year of hire date.
  • Experience in EHR Documentation is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Support in maintaining proficiency in the role of Receptionists and Medical Assistant duties and responsibilities.
  • Training includes but is not limited to Clinica Sierra Vista’s (CSV) culture and mission, practice management system, customer service expectations, payer sources, programs, and quality initiatives on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for following standard work procedures and troubleshoots any problems and resolving any patient issues at the health center.
  • Responsible for monitoring the management of patient’s schedules to maximize access and minimize errors and delays
  • Monitors all functions of the patient check in/out process, including collections and deposits.
  • Ensures health center and team are meeting TJC, HRSA, PCMH, HEDIS, UDS, VFC, CHDP, and all quality improvement guidelines and requirements.
  • Must be customer service focused and ensure staff is providing excellent patient experience, customer service, and ensure quality outcomes.
  • Must be available to cover reception and assist patients with financial questions.
  • Ensures the integrity and standardization of medical records, that they are retained, protected, retrieved, transferred, and disposed of according to policies, local, stated, and or federal guidelines.
  • Works closely with Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), if applicable.
  • Maintains an efficient system for ordering forms, office, and medical supplies as designated.
  • Able to perform other duties as assigned and directed.
