About The Position

This is an intake MA position within the Hematology/Stem Cell Clinic at Vanderbilt Health. The role involves preparing patients for provider appointments, administering immunizations, performing venipuncture, and rooming patients. The Medical Assistant supports the licensed healthcare team by managing clinic patient flow, gathering and documenting patient screening data, and assisting with patient and family education and communication. Requirements

MA certification recognized by Vanderbilt Health (AMT, AAMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP) or ability to obtain certification within 120 days.
Graduate of an approved discipline specific program.
Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
Can sit for exam if they have 12 months of patient care experience.

Nice To Haves

Experience with planning & organizing, including anticipating resource needs, prioritizing tasks, and scheduling activities.
Proficiency in clinical competencies such as vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, medication administration, and point-of-care testing.
Familiarity with setting up and maintaining patient exam rooms, supplies, and equipment.
Experience with clinical patient documentation applications.

Responsibilities

Directs and supports patient flow as well as unit operations by maintaining supplies, equipment and unit environmental standards.
Facilitates identification of resources to meet patient healthcare needs.
Performs/assists with procedures according to organizational/departmental standards.
Collects and documents patient screening data for the healthcare team.
Assists with patient and family education.
Organizing and managing clinic patient flow, gathering and documenting patient screening data, assist with patient and family education and communication with patient's health care team.
