About The Position

The GI Medical Assistant supports gastroenterology providers and patients through rooming, visit preparation, routine clinical messaging, medication and order support, referrals, recalls, and follow-up activities. The role collaborates with providers, nurses, and support staff to maintain efficient clinic flow and ensure patients receive timely, coordinated care within the Medical Assistant scope of practice. The position is based at Corewell Health’s Care Center North Muskegon outpatient clinic and is scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills, or at least one year of experience working specifically as a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic, or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with an MA scope of practice.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
• One of the following certifications required within 120 days: AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA).
