Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma required.
  • Holds and maintains a Medical Assistant Certification or Registration.
  • Holds and maintains an active BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across various audiences (i.e., staff, visitors, patients, family members, and physicians).
  • Superior listening skills with the ability to quickly comprehend instructions in emergency situations.
  • Ability to frequently synthesize patient data and implement an action plan appropriate to the situation (strong critical thinking skills and good judgment).
  • Excellent manual dexterity.
  • Excellent team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between patients, nurses, Surgeons, and facility staff.
  • Assist in all areas including sterilization, operating room circulating, and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
  • Apply sanitary, infection control, and safety standards in preparing and sanitizing surgical instruments.
  • Handle instruments accurately and safely in accordance with the sterilization process.
  • Ensure equipment is properly working and escalate malfunctions to the Clinical Administrator.
  • Peel-pack supplies/instruments, wrap instruments for sterilization, and inspect each instrument for use, function, completeness, and cleanliness.
  • Document and maintain accurate sterilization records.
  • Perform simple maintenance on equipment.
  • Prepare trays for designated areas according to policies and procedures.
  • Document and maintain inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Prepare surgery suites by gathering, organizing, and preparing surgical supplies and equipment.
  • Monitor inventory of all surgical supplies and equipment and notify appropriate individuals when supplies are needed.
  • Operate medical equipment and perform technical skills according to set policies and standards of care.
  • Restock surgery suites with appropriate supplies when procedures have ended for the day.
  • Collaborate with members of the surgical and clinical team in developing coordinated outcomes and interventions regarding patient progress and care.
  • Ensure the operating rooms are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner at all times.
  • Follow established HIPPA policies and procedures.
  • Bring patients into the examination room in preparation for their follow-up visit.
  • Take and record patient vital signs and obtain urine samples.
  • Clean examination rooms and execute room turnover.
  • Work with Surgeons, Massage Therapists, and Nurses to ensure workflow is efficient.
  • Communicate with patients in a manner that instills understanding and confidence about their post-procedure healing instructions.
  • Record appropriate patient information on patient charts and/or Salesforce.
  • Report any problems or unusual circumstances to the Clinical Administrator and Surgeon.
  • Understand and follow procedures for post-surgical and procedural processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service, ensuring that clients' unique needs are met.
  • Display consistent professionalism and be empathetic and energetic with patients.
  • Provide basic direct care to patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse.
  • Monitor vital signs and report patient’s behavior and wellbeing to the PACU Registered Nurses.
  • Prepare each patient recovery room with necessary items like blankets, pillows, medical equipment, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
