Our experienced team of endocrinology doctors and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist offers comprehensive, compassionate care with convenient access to cardiac testing, labs and imaging. We are located at 101 Main Street, Suite 107 Medford, MA 02155. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to join our team onsite, Monday–Friday from 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, and work alongside one of our new providers! This is a unique and versatile role that combines traditional Medical Assistant responsibilities with front desk support 1–2 days per week. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their day and is looking to utilize both their clinical and administrative skills. The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Various Issuers preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Various Issuers preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
  • Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
  • Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
  • Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
  • Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
  • Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
