The Physician Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled specialist who assists the physician in all aspects of the medical practice under the direct responsibility of the physician. Responsibilities include assisting with the patient care management, executes administrative and clinical procedures and performs supervisory functions pertaining to position. Competency requires that the medical assistant adheres to ethical and legal standards of professional practice, recognize and respond to emergencies and demonstrates professional characteristics.

Requirements

  • American Heart Association BLS Certification, for Health Care Provider required
  • Knowledge of the outpatient practice of medicine.
  • Must have experience in medical assisting.
  • Knowledge of medical practice, patient care skills, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Must possess computer skills and customer service skills.
  • Capable of making sound decisions.
  • Detail oriented and self motivated.
  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an accredited program for medical assistants with one year in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Medical Assistance Certification preferred

  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  • Updating patient medical records
  • Answering phones

  • Removing sutures and dressings
  • Transmitting prescription refills
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
