About The Position

We're hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to join our Academic Alliance in Dermatology team in Hudson, Florida. As a Medical Assistant, you'll play an important role in the patient experience by assisting with rooming, clinical documentation, patient education, and a variety of in-office dermatologic procedures. Requirements

  • Bilingual in English & Spanish (preferred)
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations, HIPAA requirements, infection prevention protocols, and Bloodborne Pathogen standards, with a commitment to maintaining compliance
  • Experience obtaining patient histories, recording vital signs, and preparing patients for both routine dermatology visits and in-office procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to administer injections and provide support during medical and surgical procedures
  • Familiarity with both clinical and administrative workflows, including patient scheduling, registration, and practice financial policies
  • Proficiency with computers and healthcare technology, including experience navigating electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems
  • Ability to use standard office and clinical equipment such as computers, scanners, printers, copiers, and fax machines
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and customer service
  • Proficient in English; bilingual communication skills are highly valued
  • Ability to thrive in a busy medical environment while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Candidates with Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training or a Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field, including Pre-Med or Pre-Physician Assistant studies, are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant, CNA, Patient Care Technician, or in another direct patient care capacity is preferred.
  • Prior dermatology experience is highly desirable; however, candidates with strong clinical experience from other specialties will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient intake, room patients, obtain medical histories, and document all relevant information, including vital signs, within the EMR system.
  • Assist with maintaining patient flow by preparing patients for their appointments and helping providers stay on schedule throughout the clinic day.
  • Prepare exam rooms, procedure trays, surgical instruments, and supplies needed for dermatology visits and in-office procedures.
  • Provide chairside assistance during dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, excisions, lesion removals, and other treatments as directed by the provider.
  • Collect, label, process, and coordinate pathology specimens while ensuring compliance with laboratory requirements and insurance guidelines.
  • Administer local anesthetic and support providers during procedures in accordance with training, clinic protocols, and scope of practice.
  • Answer patient questions, provide education regarding treatments and aftercare instructions, and appropriately escalate concerns to the provider when necessary.
  • Manage daily clinical communications, including nurse line messages, patient callbacks, provider task lists, phone messages, faxes, and internal correspondence.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and perform medical scribing duties during patient visits when required.
  • Clean, sterilize, calibrate, and maintain clinical equipment and instruments while following infection prevention and safety standards.
  • Monitor medical supply levels, track expiration dates, and assist with ordering, stocking, and organizing inventory for the clinic.
  • Communicate pathology results to patients as directed by the provider, document all outreach efforts, and coordinate recommended follow-up care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations, company policies, and clinical compliance standards at all times.
  • Support overall clinic operations by assisting with additional clinical and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
