About The Position

We’re hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to join our Knoxville dermatology team at Dermatology Associates of Knoxville. As an MA, you'll work directly alongside dermatology providers supporting patient flow, clinical procedures, medical dermatology visits, and overall daily operations within a busy outpatient specialty practice. We’re looking for someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing both hands-on clinical support and patient-facing responsibilities. This position will require travel to our Farragut, Dowell Springs, and Powell locations.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of recent hands-on clinical experience in a Medical Assistant, CNA, patient care, or healthcare support role preferred
  • Experience assisting with in-office procedures and/or direct patient care
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient medical practice
  • Strong communication and patient service skills
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail
  • Experience documenting in EMR systems
  • Familiarity with clinical workflows, patient intake, and procedural support
  • Ability to work collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, and front office teams
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Professional, dependable, and adaptable attitude
  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or other clinical patient care experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Dermatology experience preferred, but not required
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, Certified Nursing Assistant program or completion of a bachelor’s degree program in the pre-med or pre-physician assistant track preferred.
  • Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare exam and procedure rooms prior to patient visits
  • Room patients and obtain accurate medical history, medication updates, chief complaints, and vital signs
  • Document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR/EHR)
  • Assist providers during dermatology appointments, including general skin exams, biopsies, excisions, lesion treatments, and follow-up visits
  • Support in-office procedures by setting up instruments, supplies, syringes, and sterile trays
  • Assist with specimen collection, labeling, documentation, and routing to pathology/laboratory partners
  • Provide post-procedure instructions and reinforce provider guidance
  • Respond to patient calls, portal messages, callbacks, and clinical task lists
  • Assist with prescription refill workflows, prior authorizations, and provider communications as needed
  • Maintain efficient patient flow to support provider productivity and clinic scheduling
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain instruments and equipment according to infection prevention protocols
  • Monitor inventory levels and restock clinical supplies throughout the office
  • Remove expired supplies and maintain organized treatment areas
  • Support chart preparation and administrative clinical workflows between patient appointments
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and workplace safety standards at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
