About The Position

UW Medical Center-Northwest's Emergency Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified. This is a part-time, 90% FTE (36 hours per week) position on the Night Shift, working three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am. The Emergency Department staff is committed to providing personalized, quality emergency care with compassion, dignity, and respect. Our team includes board-certified emergency medicine physicians and nurses with advanced cardiac life support, pediatric and trauma training. This role offers shift differential pay, making it ideal for those looking to work outside regular clinic hours, and is conveniently located near public transportation. Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment.
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

  • Perform Point-of-Care (POC) Testing, splinting, and wound care
  • Assist patients to exam room and documents patient history, medications and vital signs
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms
  • Assist RN with triage process
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
  • Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
  • Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
  • Transport patients within hospital departments
