About The Position

Harborview - Eye Institute has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This is a full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week) position for a fixed duration of 1 year, working Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM on the Day Shift. The UW Medicine Eye Institute, located on First Hill in Seattle, offers cutting-edge medical and surgical eye care for a wide range of conditions and disorders, including glaucoma, cataracts, retinal diseases, and refractive procedures. Requirements

Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
Perform injections
Prepare and clean exam rooms
Submit medication prior authorizations
Prepare patients for and assist Physicians with intraocular injections and laser procedures
Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
Perform procedures such as Visual Field tests and glucose monitoring
Schedule new and return appointments; use computer system to check patients in and out of clinics; assist with med refill requests, appointments and requests for eye glass prescriptions
Assist in transporting patients as required
