About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant supports patient care by performing a variety of services and related activities, including accurate patient registration data entry and insurance verification. The role requires good judgment, effective communication with patients, families, licensed personnel, insurance companies, and third-party payers, and a professional, caring manner. The Certified Medical Assistant assists physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care and helps with patient accounts, scheduling, phones, provider updates, and communicating patient benefits.

Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is required.
• BLS is required.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet the expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care.
• Accurately enter charges on patient accounts, register patients, and update patient accounts.
• Verify insurance and record statistics.
• Assist with scheduling patient appointments and answering phones.
• Keep providers informed of changes.
• Inform patients of their benefits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
