About The Position

UW Medical Center-Montlake's Emergency Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This is a part-time, 90% FTE (36 hours per week) position on the Night Shift, working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The Emergency Department at UW Medical Center – Montlake is staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and highly trained emergency nurses who provide high-quality, compassionate emergency care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As part of a major medical center located on the University of Washington campus, the emergency department is equipped to treat the most complex and critical emergency medical conditions and illnesses, providing specialized care in areas such as cardiology, stroke, high-risk pregnancy (including a neonatal intensive care unit), oncology, transplantation, and orthopedics. This position offers shift differential pay, making it ideal for those looking to work outside regular clinic hours, and is conveniently located near public transportation. Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

  • Performs Point-of-Care (POC) Testing, splinting, and wound care
  • Assists patients to exam room and documents patient history, medications and vital signs
  • Prepares and cleans exam rooms
  • Assists RN with triage process
  • Facilitates flow of patients and maximizes operational efficiency
  • Acts as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
  • Assists provider with procedures and medical exams
  • Transports patients within hospital departments
