Requirements

  • Equal to completion of four years of high school or equivalent plus specialized courses and training.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program, or equivalent medical office practice experience, is required.
  • One (1) year of certified medical assistant experience required.
  • National third-party Medical Assistant certification, such as AMCA, AAMA, AMT, CCMA (NHA certification), or NCMA (NCCT certification) is required.
  • BLS required.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of medical assistant experience is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or health-related computer software is preferred.
  • Fluent in a language other than English and Medical Interpreting is desirable.
  • Other certifications based on practice specialty may be desirable.
  • Other certifications, based on practice specialty may be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Position reports to the Practice Manager/designee, and under the Medical Assistant Supervisory Agreement, performs a variety of medical assisting duties for assigned Office(s) within Southcoast Physicians Group.
  • Under the supervision of providers and nurses, and in collaboration with caregivers, patients, and families, provide the highest quality of care and treatment for all patients.
  • Assist providers with patient care and procedures, documenting in an electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Facilitate efficient flow of patients through the clinic.
  • Communicate with patients via phone and electronic portal regarding test results, surgery schedules, procedures and follow-up directions under supervision and within scope.
  • This lead role requires close collaboration with the practice leadership team and providers.
  • This role will serve as Train the Trainer, evaluate and sign off peer�s clinical competencies, and facilitate the orientation and onboarding of new staff.
  • In collaboration with management, will schedule staff.
  • Manage clinical inventory, ensure maintenance of clinical equipment, and order supplies.
  • May facilitate quality improvement initiatives and represent practice on committees.
