About The Position
Barrington Orthopedic Specialists is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant or Athletic Trainer to assist a physician in clinic with patient evaluation and documentation. The practice, established in 1980, is a premier orthopedic provider in the northwest Chicago suburbs, known for its compassionate and individualized care for bone, joint, and muscle injuries and conditions.
Requirements
- Must be able to multitask and be willing to learn new tasks.
- Experienced Medical Assistant required OR Certified Athletic Trainer (new grads welcome!).
- One year of Orthopedic experience OR one year working in a clinical setting preferred.
- Previous Experience with casting, splinting and DME preferred.
- Athena EMR System - A PLUS

Responsibilities
- Assisting Physician with procedures including casting, splinting, DME application, cortisone injections, wound care, suture removal, orthotic fittings, and ingrown toenails.
- Performing patient vitals.
- Messaging and handling phone calls to patients with required documentation.
- Processing medical refills.
- Completing work/gym notes and any other related paperwork.
- Processing forms such as insurance, disability, FMLA, and work statuses/restrictions.
- Seeing patients in clinic, performing general overview of reason for visit, and verifying information accuracy.
