Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology or related field of study is required.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and travel with teams to away games.
  • Athletic training certification in good standing by the National Athletic Trainers Association - Board of Certification required.
  • CPR/AED certification required.
  • First Aid certification required.
  • Valid California driver's license required to accommodate the need for additional drivers during team travel and to transport student-athletes to doctor appointments.
  • Computer skills: MS Office and medical tracking software.
  • Knowledge of physical therapy modalities and treatment protocols to provide a standardized care for the student-athlete.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

  • Master's degree in athletic training or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cover home events (games and practices) and travel with assigned team(s).
  • Injury evaluation, treatment, and first-aid care.
  • Plan and implement rehabilitation programs for serious injuries or post-surgical conditions.
  • Keep and maintain medical records for each athlete or sport, including date of injury, evaluation of injury, treatment or rehabilitation protocol and progress report.
  • Administrative duties as assigned by Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Health and Wellness – assist with inventory records, student athlete physicals, or insurance processing.
  • Assist in supervision of athletic training students in the training room and at the practice or competition facility.
