About The Position

As a Medical Assistant Apprentice at Monument Health, you will have the unique opportunity to work and certify as a Medical Assistant over this 12 month fully-paid (and paid-for) apprenticeship. You will join a small cohort of like-minded difference-makers to learn and practice all the necessary administrative, clinical, and phycological skills necessary to become a certified Medical Assistant, and you will have 1:1 support from your leader, a mentor, our Education and Professional Development team, and clinical leadership in doing so! Career pathing into a permanent Medical Assistant role at Monument Health is our goal! As a Medical Assistant Apprentice, you will have a unique opportunity to learn to work collaboratively to provide direct and indirect patient care in the ambulatory clinic setting. You will actively participate as a member of the health care team and perform assigned tasks in accordance with the policies and procedures of Monument Health to meet the needs of each patient. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Professional Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) within 60 days of hire
  • Requires the ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to properly prepare the examination and treatment areas per clinic standards.
  • Learn to complete patient rooming procedures to include vital signs, data collection and other identified components specific to the clinic setting and within outlined Scope of Responsibilities.
  • Learn to accurately administer and document unit dose medications/ immunizations in accordance with clinic policy following successful training/competency.
  • Learns to perform EKG's and laboratory testing per CLIA license of the clinic following successful training/competency.
  • Learns to document in the patient record is accurate, clear, concise within outlined Scope of Responsibilities.
  • May function as provider scribe following successful training.
  • Completes all assigned clerical activities and supply maintenance/ordering as directed.
  • Assists with scheduling follow up care/appointments as ordered/directed.
  • Distributes pre-printed/pre-approved patient education materials.
  • Directs all patient questions to provider or RN.
  • Functions within the documented Monument Health Scope of Responsibilities.
  • All other duties as assigned.
