About The Position

Jefferson Healthcare invites compassionate and enthusiastic individuals to apply for our Medical Assistant Apprentice Program. This program offers hands-on training, preparing apprentices for the Medical Assistant exam under the guidance of an experienced coach/mentor. The program includes a mandatory virtual kick-off, 2,000 hours of in-clinic training, and approximately 10 hours per week of online coursework. We are looking for candidates eager to learn, dedicated to education, and committed to providing excellent patient care.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• A cover letter describing why you are interested in the program
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Experience with technology

Responsibilities

• Greats patients and escorts them to the exam room
• Take patients vital signs in preparation for appointment
• Documents in our Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
• Anticipates needs of the Provider to maintain efficient patient flow
• Performs phlebotomy and laboratory procedures as directed by the Provider
• Performs and documents injections and immunizations
• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patients
• Assists Providers with procedures, exams, and patient education
• Manages appropriate patient referrals and required documentation
• Observes and follows required safety protocols, including handling and disposal of sharps, use of personal protective equipment, exposure to blood borne pathogens, and general safety of employees and patients.
• Supports care team members
• Orders medication refills within scope of practice as directed by the Provider
