About The Position

Jefferson Healthcare invites compassionate and enthusiastic individuals to apply for our Medical Assistant Apprentice Program. This program offers hands-on training in multiple clinics, partnered with an experienced MA-C coach/mentor, to prepare apprentices for the Medical Assistant exam. The program includes a mandatory virtual cohort kick-off event on July 24, 2026, followed by 2,000 hours of in-clinic training starting July 27, 2026, and approximately 10 hours per week of online coursework. We are seeking candidates eager to learn, dedicated to furthering their education, and committed to providing excellent patient care.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • A cover letter describing why you are interested in the program
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Experience with technology

Responsibilities

  • Greats patients and escorts them to the exam room
  • Take patients vital signs in preparation for appointment
  • Documents in our Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Anticipates needs of the Provider to maintain efficient patient flow
  • Performs phlebotomy and laboratory procedures as directed by the Provider
  • Performs and documents injections and immunizations
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patients
  • Assists Providers with procedures, exams, and patient education
  • Manages appropriate patient referrals and required documentation
  • Observes and follows required safety protocols, including handling and disposal of sharps, use of personal protective equipment, exposure to blood borne pathogens, and general safety of employees and patients.
  • Supports care team members
  • Orders medication refills within scope of practice as directed by the Provider
