About The Position

Seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join one of the world's most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and education and prevention. As part of the Ambulatory Float Pool, you will manage the care of the medically stable adult patient with low to moderate acute issues related to oncologic diseases and treatment. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience. CMA or RMA certification is preferred but not required. Ideal candidates are organized, strong communicators, and flexible, with a preference for those who have adult oncology experience. The schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program including externship/practicum.
  • 1 year Medical Assistant experience.
  • No experience required with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (including externship/practicum) or U.S. Military medical training.

Nice To Haves

  • CMA or RMA certification is preferred but not required.
  • Adult oncology experience.
  • Graduate of a U.S. Military medical services training program.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Staff: Responsibilities include completion of routine patient care assignments as delegated.
  • Accurately record vital signs and other data, report abnormalities to nursing staff.
  • Collects laboratory specimens and performs laboratory wave testing (i.e, glucose, Hgb A1C, EKG)
  • Assists Patients: Aids in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, greeting, rooming, and vital signs.
  • Work Environment: Maintains the environment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.
  • Stock and maintain unit and patient care supplies and equipment.
  • Effective Communication: Escalates significant events and concerns regarding patients and their care to appropriate nursing staff.
  • Responsible for the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times
  • Timely processing and rooming of all patients after registration
  • Inform nurses when patients have been roomed.
  • Update “wait time boards” every 30 minutes.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.
