About The Position

BHMG Primary Care is seeking an Administrative Medical Assistant to join their team in Lexington, KY. This role is responsible for coordinating direct patient care activities and providing clinical and administrative support to providers. A sign-on bonus is available for eligible new hires. The position involves managing patient flow, maintaining accurate medical records, and performing various clinical tasks. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to clinical excellence, teamwork, and innovation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency.
  • Experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required.
  • Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
  • BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

  • Experience with EMR System a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate direct patient care activities.
  • Provide clinical and administrative support to providers.
  • Check in patients.
  • Obtain vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, temperature).
  • Perform medication reconciliation.
  • Gather patient medical history information.
  • Expedite patient flow.
  • Room patients.
  • Stock clinic with supplies.
  • Navigate electronic health record system (EPIC).
  • Schedule and follow-up with appointments.
  • Assist with medication fill and refill requests.
  • Check for prior authorizations.
  • Schedule tests, procedures, and consultations.
  • Perform procedures such as EKG, phlebotomy, lab tests, and injections (once competency is assessed).
  • Manage the coordination and flow of patients throughout their visit to create an exceptional patient experience.
  • Proactively check the provider’s schedule and review information within the patient record to ensure all required information is available prior to their visit.
  • Proactively obtain any missing information from the patient to ensure medical records are accurate and up to date.
  • Capture patient’s vital signs, past medical, social and family history, medication usage and preferred pharmacy information upon arrival.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements including HIPAA/OSHA compliance.
  • Respond to patient call backs and phone in prescription refill requests.
  • Administer medication and injections, as directed by Physician/Provider.
  • Perform phlebotomy on patients, as directed by the Physician/ Provider.
  • Perform EKG’s, PFT’s spirometry, nebulizer treatments and ear irrigations, and other procedures, as required by the practice and directed by the Physician/Provider.
  • Perform in-office lab testing such as glucose testing, strep screens, pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and HgA1c as directed by the physician/provider.
  • Perform sterilization on instruments used for minor procedures/surgeries according to the CDC recommended guidelines.
  • Maintain all certifications/licensures as required by the scope of the role being performed.
