The Medical Assistant 2 performs a variety of routine duties in a hospital or clinic to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients. This role involves assisting with patient flow, obtaining vital signs and patient information, administering treatments, performing routine laboratory tests, and assisting in patient care activities such as dressing changes and minor procedures. The position also includes preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, scheduling tests, maintaining patient records, ordering and stocking supplies, and escorting patients. Adherence to University and unit-level policies and procedures, as well as safeguarding University assets, is expected. Department-specific functions include assisting with patient flow, gathering detailed medical history, performing sterile procedures, preparing for patient visits, assisting physicians during examinations, providing patient instructions, and handling clerical duties. Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and Infection Control guidelines is mandatory. This list of duties is not exhaustive and may be expanded as needed.
