Requirements

  • Six years of experience in eligibility determinations for long-term care programs; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of experience in eligibility determinations for long-term care programs; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in eligibility determinations for long-term care programs; OR An advanced degree plus two years of experience in eligibility determinations for long-term care programs.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Long-Term Care program staff by assigning cases, monitoring workloads, evaluating performance, approving leave, providing counseling, and recommending corrective actions to ensure efficient unit operations.
  • Oversees the research and analysis of financial, medical, and eligibility information to determine applicant eligibility for statewide Long-Term Care services.
  • Reviews and resolves advanced and complex eligibility cases, including appeals, hardship requests, and cases involving penalty periods or complex policy interpretations.
  • Interprets, clarifies, and revises Long-Term Care policies, procedures, rules, and regulations to ensure compliance with changing state and federal laws.
  • Provides training, guidance, and technical support to employees on the application of Long-Term Care policies and procedures and approves eligibility determinations.
  • Conducts compliance reviews, audits, and random case sampling to ensure accuracy, program integrity, and adherence to quality standards, and prepares reports of audit findings and performance data.
  • Collaborates with advocacy groups, attorneys, providers, nursing facilities, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to resolve eligibility issues, address claims discrepancies, and support Long-Term Care program operations and outreach efforts.
