About The Position

Join AIR as a Medicaid and Prescription Drug Data Analyst with our Healthcare Innovations team. Our team works collaboratively to unravel the intertwined challenges of health care quality, costs, and access. Our team of experts–economists, data scientists, statisticians, public health experts, sociologists, nurses, physicians, and psychologists – advance evidence and save lives by leading rigorous research and evaluation; program implementation and monitoring; results-driven technical assistance and training; and leading-edge data science and technology tools. The Data Analyst will apply programming skills to manage, analyze, and report on complex datasets, to implement and support research design, documentation, and project coordination, and to ensure high-quality data-driven insights. Candidates with expertise with Medicaid policy and data, and/or pharmaceutical pricing and related data sources are especially encouraged to apply. This position has the flexibility to work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of AIR’s U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Epidemiology, Economics, Health Informatics, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with healthcare administrative data, including Medicaid, Medicare, and/or commercial claims and encounter data.
  • Experience working with pharmaceutical pricing data, prescription drug utilization data, pharmacy claims, or other related data sources.
  • Experience using SQL and at least one statistical programming language (e.g., R, Python, SAS, or Stata) to manage, analyze, and report on large datasets.
  • Experience applying data management, data validation, and quality assurance methods to complex administrative datasets.
  • Experience contributing to technical reports, client deliverables, and proposal development.
  • Strong quantitative research skills.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate efficiently in a virtual work environment.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and concurrent deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly, follow direction, and work independently.
  • Strong collaboration, consultation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Medicaid policy, financing, managed care, and/or value-based payment models, preferred but not required.
  • Experience with advanced analytic techniques, including machine learning, preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Apply quantitative methods and techniques to manage, analyze, and interpret research data.
  • Construct, clean, and document large datasets for both internal use and project-specific needs.
  • Create customized, presentation-quality reports based on data analysis results.
  • Contribute to the design and methodology of research studies.
  • Manage administrative components of projects to ensure smooth execution.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical procedures, documentation, and reports.
  • Write, compile, and edit assigned sections of proposals and project deliverables.
  • Review work products to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency of content.
