About The Position

The Department of Journalism and Media Production at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. This role is part of an applicant pool for affiliate faculty, with screening occurring when positions become available. These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions, and the number of openings varies by semester based on program needs. Not all applicants in the pool will be contacted or selected to teach. MSU Denver, established in 1965, serves over 16,000 diverse students, providing a foundation for their aspirations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Technical Communication or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in the field.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Media Production, Technical Communication or a related field.
  • At least five years of professional, full-time experience in media production.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 3 - 9 credit hours in areas such as writing, video, and interactive media production at the 1000-level or above, including courses like Basic Video Production, Introduction to Media Production, Basic Video Editing, Streaming Media Technologies, and Critical Thinking Through 21st Century Media.
  • Be available for consultation with students.
  • Teach assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content.
  • Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
  • Grade student work and provide robust feedback in a timely manner.
  • Address student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
  • Provide online or in-person academic support to students as needed and appropriate.
  • Provide instruction consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and department course coordination policies.
  • Comply with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
  • Adapt and learn new modes of instruction.
  • Be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
