Role Summary: acts as the chief architect and vital link between our internal Brand teams, Sales leadership, and the Integrated Agency Team (IAT). This role bridges high-level strategy with ground-level execution, driving the holistic media vision for our portfolio of category-leading brands. You will be responsible for full-funnel paid media—from upper-funnel brand equity building (Linear TV, CTV/OLV, Audio, Social) to lower-funnel conversion and Retail Media activation (Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot). Acting as a consultant and subject-matter expert, you will synthesize complex market dynamics into clear strategic directions, ensure campaigns are optimized for maximum ROI, and future-proof our media approach through innovation and cross-channel synergy.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience: 7–12 years of progressive experience in media planning/buying and brand strategy, with a significant portion dedicated to CPG brands. (Agency experience is a strong plus).
  • Retail Media Expertise: Deep knowledge of the RMN ecosystem (Amazon Ads, Walmart Connect, etc.), including clean rooms, attribution models, and JBP negotiations.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of digital advertising tech, algorithmic bidding, full-funnel media mechanics, and advanced measurement (MMM, MTA).
  • Leadership & Soft Skills: Superior executive presence, negotiation, and storytelling skills. Proven ability to influence senior decision-making, juggle multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborate across a matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Integrated Planning
  • Architect the Vision: Lead the development of annual operating plans and long-term media strategies, challenging the status quo to find high-impact opportunities in emerging platforms.
  • National & Retail Synergy: Architect a unified "One SMG" media approach. Ensure seamless integration between National Brand investments and Retail Media to maximize enterprise ROI and eliminate channel conflict.
  • Audience Strategy: Act as an expert on the "shopper," utilizing path-to-purchase insights to effectively target audiences across both offsite and onsite environments.
  • Agency Management & Campaign Execution
  • Partner Management: Serve as the primary strategic and day-to-day point of contact for external media agencies and RMNs, ensuring organizational priorities are clearly reflected in all planning and buying.
  • Execution & Optimization: Partner with analytics teams to translate business goals into KPI-focused activities (ROI, CPA, CTR, Viewability). Proactively review performance data to pivot targeting, optimize algorithmic bidding, and test messaging.
  • Advanced Retail Media Mastery
  • Strategic Partnerships: Drive Joint Business Planning (JBP) conversations with key Retail Media Networks to unlock beta opportunities, first-to-market activations, and exclusive data partnerships.
  • Data-Driven Activation: Lead the execution of campaigns for major retailers (Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot), constantly monitoring competitor activity and expanding RMN capabilities to capture immediate growth opportunities.
  • Financial Stewardship & Analytics
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee complex budget allocation models across brands and channels. Maintain specific SBU media budgets, ensuring alignment with POs, tracking pacing, and ensuring efficient fund utilization.
  • Data Translation: Synthesize Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM), Multi-Touch Attribution (MTA), and performance data to recommend investment shifts and deliver clear, actionable recommendations for future campaigns.
  • Innovation & Testing: Develop and own a scalable "Test & Learn" framework. Design rapid-cycle experiments to validate new audiences and creative formats, codifying learnings for the broader organization.
  • Stakeholder Influence & Mentorship
  • Executive Storytelling: Translate complex media data into compelling business narratives for Executive leadership, Brand Directors, and Sales VPs to secure buy-in for strategic pivots.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate frequent collaboration with internal stakeholders (Brand, Shopper, Sales, Finance) and provide mentorship to junior team members to elevate the organization's collective media IQ.
