About The Position

INNOCEAN USA, a full-service ad agency, is seeking a short-term freelance Media Intelligence Analyst to join their team. This contract role involves compiling, organizing, and analyzing various data sources to track competitive and client performance. The analyst will work closely with the Media Intelligence and Media Strategy teams, providing regular reporting internally and to clients. Collaboration with external vendors for data and measurement services is also a key aspect, focusing on identifying data accuracy gaps and implementing enhancements. The role requires partnering across various IUS disciplines, including Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, Strategy, and Account teams, as well as external agencies.

Requirements

  • Strong technical literacy and the ability to quickly pick up new tools and data platforms.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities without sacrificing quality.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical data analysis to marketing generalists.
  • Understanding of media strategy and performance measurement, including comfort with core media metrics such as share of voice (SOV), share of impressions (SOI), and share of market (SOM).
  • 3+ years of experience working in data analytics or related role.
  • Media agency or ad agency experience REQUIRED.
  • Intermediate level or above using Tableau (or similar): setting up data sets and building clear, insightful visualizations and dashboards.
  • Comfortable working with pivot tables, advanced formulas, and large data sets in Excel.
  • Experience building polished, executive-ready presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Experience writing SQL queries to pull and/or transform data.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing principles (Databricks or similar).
  • Familiarity with AI prompting (Copilot or similar) to speed up analysis and reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive experience, general knowledge of the auto industry, or a genuine interest in cars preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support in the development of competitive media insights through strategic analyses and performance reports.
  • Manage large data sets, create automated and semi-automated data cuts for faster analysis, and build digestible visualizations for executive client presentations.
  • Monitor, track, analyze, and report on competitive media performance and industry trends to identify issues and proactively generate marketing ideas, opportunities, potential strategies, and solutions.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of primary and secondary research to develop a strong understanding of the clients’ marketplace and competitive environment.
  • Provide ongoing support for client ad-hoc requests with critical deadlines.
  • Work closely with external vendors providing data and measurement services to identify gaps in data accuracy and strategy while collaboratively implementing enhancements.
