About The Position

The Med Surg Tele RN delivers high-quality, patient-centered care according to departmental requirements and applicable nursing standards. Working with medical providers and the care team, the RN provides personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN advocates for patients, families, and caregivers and supports positive patient experiences and clinical outcomes. The role is full-time, day shift, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with rotating weekends at Medical City McKinney.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• An associate degree or bachelor's degree must be obtained within two years of employment start date.
• At least 1 year of RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients on admission and during each scheduled shift, and promptly identify and report changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by medical providers, and document care administration thoroughly and promptly in the medical record.
• Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic responses, and take appropriate action when an unintended response occurs.
• Respond promptly to patient requests, anticipate patient needs, and address them.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, translating complex medical terminology to support understanding.
• Collaborate with medical providers and the care team to provide comprehensive care.
• Advocate for patients, families, and caregivers.
