About The Position

Join a high-acuity Med Surg / General Surgery team at George Washington University Hospital, a 395-bed academic medical center in the heart of downtown Washington, DC. This is a day-shift Med Surg RN role supporting pre- and post-operative patients across a wide variety of surgical specialties, offering strong clinical exposure and long-term growth opportunities. This role is ideal for RNs who enjoy variety, collaboration, and developing advanced surgical nursing skills in a well-supported hospital environment. Unit Overview 39-bed General Surgery / Med Surg unit Pre- and post-operative care with bariatric surgery designation (Center of Excellence) Patient populations include: Laparoscopic & minimally invasive procedures Bariatric surgery Tracheostomies Kidney & liver transplants Trauma and complex surgical cases Opportunity to develop skills across multiple surgical specialties

Requirements

  • Current RN License in good standing with state licensing board.
  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • BLS certification

Nice To Haves

  • One year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered nursing care

  • Support pre-op and post-op patients through recovery
