About The Position

This position utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation to achieve prioritized patient outcomes. The role involves collaborating with healthcare providers, performing emergency treatments, maintaining documentation, ensuring patient and staff safety, and potentially acting in a Lead Nurse capacity. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering competent, professional, and compassionate patient care.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Proficiency in the nursing process.
  • Ability to perform complete admission assessments and comprehensive nursing assessments.
  • Knowledge of applicable patient types (Acute, Observation, ER, SNF, Outpatient).
  • Ability to review, discuss, and implement healthcare provider orders.
  • Skill in recognizing abnormal symptoms/changes in patient condition and taking appropriate action.
  • Ability to serve as a patient advocate.
  • Competence in performing patient rounding.
  • Ability to evaluate patient progress toward desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated personal accountability in patient care delivery.

  • Knowledge of proper procedures for wasting narcotics and disposal of sharps and hazardous materials.
  • Ability to perform duties in a Lead Nurse capacity (if assigned).
  • Knowledge of treatments, policies/procedures, and equipment.
  • Ability to respond to patient/family concerns and provide interventions.
  • Adaptability to changes in workload.
  • Ability to complete assignments while maintaining quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process for patient care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Performs complete admission assessments and comprehensive nursing assessments.
  • Administers and performs nursing assessments according to applicable patient type (Acute, Observation, ER, SNF, Outpatient).
  • Reviews, discusses, and implements healthcare provider orders, and addresses any questions.
  • Responds to call lights and patient needs promptly.
  • Recognizes abnormal symptoms/changes in patient condition, establishes priorities, and takes appropriate action.
  • Serves as a patient advocate and performs patient rounding.
  • Evaluates patient progress toward desired outcomes prior to discharge.
  • Demonstrates personal accountability in delivering competent, professional, and compassionate patient care.
  • Provides intravenous interventions.
  • Collaborates with healthcare providers to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care.
  • Promotes team concept through effective communication regarding patient condition, care plan, and satisfaction.

  • Follows emergency policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Performs and maintains documentation, including accurate and ongoing assessments, interventions, responses, teaching, and discharge outcomes.
  • Completes shift end check prior to leaving duty.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with other health team members.
  • Follows approved shift report format.
  • Appropriately reports condition changes to medical providers.
  • Promotes and ensures patient and staff safety.
  • Administers medications, treatments, and procedures safely and promptly.
  • Performs standard precautions, uses two patient identifiers, and performs patient risk assessments every shift.

  • Initiates and performs duties that need to be completed even if not directly assigned.
