About The Position

Join a high-acuity General Surgery / Med-Surg team at a leading Washington, DC hospital. This full-time day shift role offers the opportunity to care for complex surgical patients, develop advanced clinical skills, and grow within a supportive, team-driven environment known for strong leadership and collaborative care. The unit is a 39-bed General Surgery / Med-Surg unit with a Bariatric Center of Excellence designation. It serves a high-acuity patient population, including those undergoing Laparoscopic & minimally invasive procedures, Bariatric surgery, Tracheostomies, Kidney & liver transplants, and Trauma and complex surgical cases. This role offers diverse surgical exposure across multiple specialties, supportive staffing models, flexible scheduling with self-scheduling options and balanced weekend rotations, strong unit leadership, a collaborative culture, and clear pathways for career growth.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
• BLS
• Current state nursing license.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Effective interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities

Nice To Haves

• One year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting.
• Requirements specified for specialty unit

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered surgical nursing care
• Support patients through pre- and post-operative recovery
• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and interdisciplinary teams
• Advocate for patients and families in a fast-paced environment
