About The Position

Simple Laboratories is seeking a part-time Medical Lab Technician to work on-site at a downtown Chicago hospital. The position performs laboratory testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology/Serology, Clinical Microscopy, and Microbiology. The ideal candidate has hospital experience and can work independently and collaboratively to optimize results. The schedule is overnight, 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, on Mondays, Thursdays, and alternating weekends. The role processes, analyzes, and reports laboratory results with limited supervision while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards. It includes quality control monitoring, troubleshooting, routine and special procedures, equipment operation and maintenance, and adherence to laboratory policies and safety precautions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology or Chemistry.
MLS or MLT license/certificate, ASCP/AMT.
At least one year of clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

Accurately process, analyze, and report laboratory results with limited supervision while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
Understand and perform quality control monitoring, use computer applications, and troubleshoot when necessary.
Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
Perform authorized routine and special laboratory procedures, rotating through at least three clinical laboratory areas: Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Immunology/Serology, and Microbiology.
Operate laboratory equipment and instruments, record data, and maintain equipment.
Follow quality control policies and document quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
Use universal safety precautions to protect oneself and coworkers from biohazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens.
