About The Position

This role involves leading a team of Mechatronics Integrators in the design and integration of automation equipment, alongside individual project execution. Requirements

  • A post-secondary diploma, degree or equivalent qualification, specializing in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics or controls engineering.
  • Several years of experience and understanding of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands-on experience.
  • Strong programming, mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Supervisors are responsible for promoting, monitoring and enforcing work practices which support the prevention of workplace illness and injury, as well as protection of the environment.
  • Ensure that equipment, materials and protective devices are functioning in a safe manner.
  • Ensure that employees are working in accordance with divisional health and safety procedures.
  • Applies progressive discipline as appropriate for health, safety and/or environmental violations.
  • Advise employees of the existence of any potential or actual health and safety risks.
  • Provide appropriate instruction for safe work.
  • Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees.
  • Conduct periodic inspections and audits in accordance with legislative and/or corporate requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Mechatronics Integrators in the design and integration of automation equipment.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for the team for delegating work, handling requests, and escalating issues.
  • Provide general supervision, training, and guidance to Mechatronics Integrators.
  • Ensure team performance meets departmental and project-based milestones and KPIs.
  • Foster an atmosphere of creativity, efficiency, and collaboration within the team.
  • Communicate company and departmental objectives to team members.
  • Evaluate team member performance and conduct regular reviews.
  • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with team members for development and coaching.
  • Oversee cost and schedule for all projects assigned to team members.
  • Approve work products from team members for functionality, adherence to standards, accuracy, completeness, and safety.
  • Encourage team members to identify and implement continuous improvement suggestions.
  • Collaborate with Managers to set goals and manage team performance.
  • Ensure all employees follow Health and Safety procedures and are responsible for team safety.
  • Ensure employees receive job-specific training and provide written instructions where needed.
  • Understand all jobs done by the team to cover for vacations/absences.
  • Assist mechanical design teams with mechanical designs, simulations, and calculations.
  • Ensure configuration sheets and inputs for application coding are complete and ready.
  • Integrate equipment through downloading, setup, and safety testing.
  • Drive integration activities, track progress, and coordinate integration plans.
  • Use problem-solving tools to identify root causes and correct issues.
  • Travel to install equipment and assist with SAT (Site Acceptance Testing).
  • Travel to support ATS equipment in the field if required.
