The Autonomous Enterprise and Wafer Fab Sustainability team are seeking a talented, dedicated and multidisciplined Mechatronics Engineering Intern/Co-Op to join our team of experts. Your mission will be to assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the next generation of mechatronic systems (i.e. cobots, mobile robots, overhead transport systems) in development for our semiconduction wafer fabrication facility. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and vendors to create innovative solutions that integrate mechanical, electrical, and control system, while ensuring optimal performance, functionality, and reliability is achieved to allow the smooth movement of wafers throughout the fabrication process.

Requirements

  • Currently Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Autocad, Solidworks, Sketchup, etc.
  • Proficiency in programming and configuring robotic systems, PLCs, and automation controllers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical and analytical skills
  • Quality and Process focused with high attention to detail.
  • An ability to recognise and minimise complexity within systems.
  • Exhibit a continuous improvement mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Level robotic Programming is desirable.
  • A Working knowledge of a programming language (e.g. C#, Java, Python etc.)
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining physical automation solutions.
  • Familiarity with wafer carriers, transport mechanisms, and track and trace technologies
  • Knowledge of SEMI standards and protocols for semiconductor equipment communication
  • Maintenance of physical equipment

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Internal and external teams to define automation requirements.
  • Ability to contribute to the team's brainstorming sessions and propose creative solutions for various automation challenges and opportunities.
  • Design, model, and simulate proposals using relevant simulation tools.
  • Conduct feasibility and prototype testing to validate designs and proposals.
  • Utilise CAD software to create, review or refine or review designs.
  • Generate requirements documents including Bill of Materials, Costs, vendors etc.
  • Source and work with automation integrators and solution providers.
  • Create documentation, including system manuals, procedures, and technical reports.
  • Implement and optimize control strategies to ensure efficient material flow and minimize downtime.
  • Program and troubleshoot robotic systems, conveyors, and automated carriers.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols.
  • Monitor system performance, identify issues, and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Develop preventive maintenance schedules and perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance.
  • Respond to out-of-control scenarios.
  • Work on continuous improvement projects to enhance automation performance and throughput.
  • Coordinate with automation integrators and suppliers for system design, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in mechatronics and related fields.
