About The Position

The Snap-on Tools Engineering team is seeking a Mechanical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Technology college student for a summer internship at their Elizabethton, Tennessee facility. The Intern will develop 3D CAD models, 2D Detailed Drawings, and related materials to support the production of Snap-on hand tools.

Requirements

• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, preferably materials statics/mechanics, mechanisms, testing, and instrumentation.
• Some 3D CAD experience.
• Familiar with CNC machining.
• Able to document all work and projects.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Has initiative and able to work effectively with little direction and/or few guidelines.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office programs.
• High mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work full-time during summer.
• Substantial progress toward a Mechanical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Technology Degree at an accredited university.

Responsibilities

• Create 3-D CAD models and detailed drawings for tooling and fixturing using CATIA.
• Work with product development team to engineer new / improved manufacturing processes.
• Assemble tooling and Fixturing using hand tools.
• Evaluate field failure modes to determine the root cause.
• Develop, prototype and test modifications to reduce the failure rate.
• Perform and document cutting tooling life/performance testing.
• Work with production associates to create/implement ideas that improve production efficiency.
