About The Position

U. S. Steel Tubular Products manufactures seamless pipe and premium connections for energy and industrial customers across the United States. The Mechatronics Engineering Co-op is a 2–3 consecutive-term development opportunity for engineering students to gain hands-on experience supporting Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), gauging, automation, and manufacturing systems in an industrial environment. The Co-op works alongside engineering, operations, quality, and maintenance teams to support automated inspection and measurement systems used throughout manufacturing. The position combines mechanical, electrical, controls, instrumentation, and automation engineering. Across consecutive Co-op terms, the student builds technical knowledge, takes on increasing responsibility, troubleshoots equipment and process issues, analyzes system performance, and supports projects intended to improve safety, quality, reliability, and productivity. The role is onsite at the Fairfield, Alabama facility and may require domestic travel between Tubular locations as needed.
