The Summer 2027 Manufacturing Process Engineer Intern will support a cutting tool life optimization project for Finisher and Cut-Off machining operations at U. S. Steel Tubular Products. Using a practical, data-driven approach, the intern will evaluate tooling performance, machining parameters, coolant delivery, tooling setup, material, and machine condition. The project aims to identify root causes and recommend improvements that reduce tooling cost and downtime while improving cycle-time consistency and sustainable production rate. The intern will work onsite at the Pine Bluff, Arkansas facility and collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering. The role includes collecting and analyzing process data, supporting controlled comparisons or basic Design of Experiments, and preparing a technical summary and final presentation with findings, business impact, and a repeatable method for future tooling evaluations. The intern will follow facility safety requirements and complete required training while working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
