About The Position

Messiah University’s Engineering Department offers ABET accredited Bachelor of Science degrees in Biomedical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Robotics Engineering. Furthermore, an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree with concentrations in Biomedical, Computer, Environmental, and General Engineering is available to students. Our eleven faculty and three full-time technicians are highly qualified in their fields, with full-time faculty holding a PhDs in engineering, from Penn State, Texas A&M, U-Illinois, U-Kansas, U-Michigan, U-Virginia, U-Washington, Vanderbilt, and Villanova. More than 230 students work with faculty, staff, and industry volunteers on projects related to clean water access, alternative energy, technical resources for people living with disability, transportation, communications and biomedical instruments and processes supporting partnering organizations in missions and humanitarian service around the world.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree or significant experience in the area relevant for the course that will be taught.
  • Candidates must evidence the potential for strong classroom teaching and positive student interaction and mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a MWF section of our ENGR 323 Mechanics II course for the spring 2027 semester.
  • Create and maintain a course page in Canvas LMS structure.
  • Design and grade assessments of student learning.
  • Respond to students in a timely manner via weekly office hours and/or email.
  • Courses typically meet face to face for 2.5-hours/week for 15 weeks either in three 50-minute lectures (MWF) or two 75-minute lectures (TR).
  • Scheduling may be adjustable, but typically occurs between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Responsibilities specific to the class or lab taught will be communicated on an individual basis.
