About The Position

Micron Technology is seeking a Mechanical/Thermal Engineering Architect to join the DRAM Systems and Component Architecture Group. This senior technical individual contributor role focuses on the architecture, build, bring-up, validation, and production transition of systems incorporating new memory technologies, ASICs, FPGAs, digital, mixed-signal, analog circuitry, and power supplies. The position requires solid knowledge and extensive experience in physical and heat-related aspects, high-speed transmission line theory, mechanical development, thermal development, and characterization. Responsibilities include hands-on system bring-up, characterization, debugging, and utilizing laboratory equipment. This is a highly visible role requiring close collaboration with hardware, software, firmware, Media, and ASIC development groups. The role involves designing, defining, and implementing complex system requirements, determining system specifications, coordinating subsystem design and integration, and resolving program support deficiencies.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Thermal Engineering paired with 15 years of experience; MSc degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Thermal Engineering paired with 10 years of experience.
  • Solid experience (7 years) in the Electronics/Storage Industry architecting, developing and shipping to customers electronics/storage solutions and products.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of storage and memory sub-systems, including PCIe and DDR technologies.
  • Proficient with using AI tools in daily job.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, defines and implements complex system requirements for customers and/or prepares studies and analyzes existing systems.
  • Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system.
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies.
  • Develops and recommends corrective actions.
  • Architect, develop, bring up, test, validate, and release structural and thermal components for complex electronic systems and modules.
  • Architect and build electronics systems and modules by following guidelines for physical and thermal design and implementation.
  • Define and implement test and validation mechanical and thermal plans including thorough design reviews of all major sub-assemblies to guarantee only one prototype leading to the final system/module revision, and MTBF prediction, FMEA, component derating, margin test, etc. to guarantee highest quality and reliability.
  • Oversee the fabrication of the mechanical and thermal systems and modules.
  • Support product certification activities, NPI, production and manufacturing, including product transfer form Engineering to manufacturing and materials procurement.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in the way we operate and work and help implement them with management support leading to a more efficient, agile and higher quality product development process.
