About The Position

MCW Consultants is looking for a Mechanical Technologist to join our growing Truro office. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys technical problem solving, design, and construction projects. We welcome applications from recent graduates, early-career technologists, experienced CAD operators, or individuals looking to apply their drafting skills in the building consulting industry. This is an office-based position located in Truro, Nova Scotia. Our office is home to a close-knit team of approximately 10 engineers, technologists, and administrative professionals, covering both mechanical and electrical disciplines. While you'll enjoy the friendly, collaborative environment of a small office, you'll also have the support of our larger offices throughout the Maritimes, giving you the opportunity to learn and develop your career.

Requirements

  • A graduate of a Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or related program.
  • A CAD operator with experience in another industry.
  • A junior mechanical technologist looking to grow your career.
  • Someone with strong technical aptitude and an interest in the design and construction industry.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Revit is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and revise construction drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Assist with the development of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system layouts.
  • Convert engineering markups, sketches, and design concepts into construction documents.
  • Coordinate drawings with architectural, structural, electrical, and other disciplines.
  • Participate in quality control reviews to ensure drawings are accurate and complete.
  • Conduct field reviews and site visits as part of ongoing projects.
  • Periodically needed to gather site information, measurements, and existing conditions for renovation and upgrade projects.
  • Update record drawings and project documentation.
  • Support project teams in delivering high-quality work on schedule.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge of building systems through mentorship and hands-on project experience.
