About The Position

This job is a great opportunity for a university student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program, to develop his/her skills in partnership with our technical team through the development and testing of mechanical designs of semiconductor-based lighting products. The selected candidate should demonstrate a greater degree of initiative, independence and desire to learn new skills while making important contributions to the technical team. The student’s development will occur through project-based assignments. Under the supervision and mentoring of a senior technical team member, her/his key areas of responsibility will include: Performing testing, characterization & metrology of mechanical & optical components and assemblies Participating in the continuous improvement of mechanical & optical test systems Creating and building design prototypes Making sound engineering decisions considering project goals and constraints (products, costs, suppliers, assembly workers, etc.) Coordinating, overseeing and participating with internal and external partners to ensure project successful completion Additional responsibilities as required such as conceptualizing, designing, preparing appropriate 3D models, 2D detail drawings for LED lighting systems

Requirements

  • University student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program
  • Strong commitment to a career in technology and a passion for engineering
  • Inclusive, energizing team player with excellent communication skills, organizational awareness
  • Bilingual (French & English), both written and spoken
  • Ability to work with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, OptisWorks preferred) and Office Suite tools
  • Demonstrate ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Individual must demonstrate good judgment in all decision making and be comfortable in an innovative culture
  • Candidates are to identify their length of availability in their application

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a product development environment
  • Mechanical technology or hands-on experience
  • LED System and electro-mechanical packaging design background & knowledge
  • Working knowledge of Product Life Management (PLM) programs of software

Responsibilities
