About The Position

Element is hiring a Mechanical Technician for its second shift to join its growing team. The role offers an opportunity to develop a career within a global testing, inspection, and certification business. The technician will work in a commercial mechanical testing laboratory, operating complex mechanical testing and data-capture equipment, interpreting requirements and test results, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the laboratory’s operational, quality, and health and safety procedures. The position also includes day-to-day management of allocated staff and preparation of reports, data interpretation, and analysis.

Requirements

Good general education, including English and Maths.
Degree-level education or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant materials-related discipline.
Hands-on approach and a strong mechanical bias.
Self-motivated, with the ability to multitask, organize, and work under pressure in a busy commercial mechanical test laboratory.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Team-player attitude.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in an appropriate engineering environment.
Experience working in a mechanical testing environment.
Understanding of a recognized Quality Management System such as ISO 17025.

Responsibilities

Interpret internal and client requirements.
Supervise allocated staff and manage the relevant discipline's day-to-day activities.
Operate complex mechanical testing equipment.
Maintain accurate and systematic records.
Perform other duties required to meet laboratory demands.
Perform general duties in accordance with Element's internal procedures, quality requirements, and Health and Safety system.
Apply instrumentation and set up complex data-capture equipment.
Write reports and perform data interpretation and analysis.
